With the aim of improving the economic, cultural-educational and youth life among the Armenians in Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo-Kartli regions in Georgia a group of entrepreneurs and intellectuals from Javakheti – Gurgen Dalibaltayan, general-colonel (1926-2015), Bishop Vasken Mirzakhanyan, primate of the Diocese of Georgia, Sergey Vantsyan, aviator, president of Hayk Avia airline company, Harutyun Khachatryan, RA national artist, film director, Karine Khodikyan, playwright, prose writer, publicist, Ashot Melkonyan, academician, director of the Institute of History of NAS RA, Gagik Ginosyan RA honored cultural worker, founder and director of Karin folk-dance group, in Yerevan, January, 2014, founded the Support to Javakheti Foundation (JAH),  which is a non-political, nonprofit organization.

To foster the development of various spheres of the social life among the Armenians in Samtskhe – Javakheti and Kvemo-Kartli regions in Georgia at the initiative and due to support of the Foundation multiple projects have been implemented: monetary award to the families with many children, foundation of cultural institutions, organization of exhibitions, camps, presentations, charity concerts, traditional ceremonies, conferences, youth events, assistance to the opening ceremonies of cross-stones, production of radio and television broadcasts, etc.

The vision, mission and strategic directions of JAH were developed and established as a result of the institutional development program (including strategic planning seminars and training courses) at the beginning of 2015.

As a mechanism to detect and solve the problems of the Javakheti Armenians, the sectoral committees have been formed and are periodically staffed with new members. They are:

  • Social;
  • Economic;
  • Healthcare;
  • Scientific, Educational–Cultural and Information Technology (IT);
  • Sport, Youth;
  • Legal, Informational.

On March 26, 2015, the representation of Support to Javakheti Foundation was officially registered in Akhalkalaki, Georgia by the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. On July 25 of the same year the opening ceremony of the office took place.

The main functions of the representation of the Foundation are research of problems of the Armenians living in Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo-Kartli, elaboration and implementation of social, cultural and educational projects, cooperation with local state, non-governmental organizations.
